Substrate Integrated Waveguide Based Cavity-Backed Circularly-Polarized Antenna for Satellite Communication

چکیده

This article presents the methodology to design a single-fed circularly-polarized antenna with low front-to-back ratio (FBR). A circular-patch (CPatch) has been incorporated within rectangular-cavity, made of, substrate integrated waveguide (SIW). The size of CPatch and SIW cavity chosen appropriately, in manner, that both resonators dominant mode coincide. arrangement adopted realize basic radiating unit no surface-wave significantly lower FBR. circularly polarization excited through shorting periphery radiator “one two metallic grounds” this cavity. patch shorted from distinct points, separated by quarter wavelength—Over center frequency working band. designed manufactured over Rogers RT/Duroid 5880 dielectric constant (εr) 2.2, loss-tangent (tan δ, at 10 GHz) 0.0009, height 0.508 mm. Southwest® end launcher (SEL) along SIW-to-GCPW (Grounded Co-Planar Waveguide) transition used here facilitate measurement antenna’s electrical radiation performance. impedance bandwidth 3 dB axial-ratio (AR) is 9.5% 2.3%, respectively. It’s simulated measured peak gain, band, higher than 8.5dBic. proposed FBR conventional antennas. Through comparative study, work open literature, it demonstrated antenna, based on method, can potential candidate for applicable satellite other spaceborne communication system’s module—At ground space station.
